What is the first sign of spring to you? Every year at the first sight of a Red Robin I am jumping with joy with the idea of Spring coming. If you know me, you will understand that I am spend most of my time indoors during the winter months in hiding. I love the warmer months and my most favorite season is Spring because everything that is resting comes to life again. What is your favorite season?
Did you know that the American Red Robin was adopted as the official state bird for the State of Connecticut, where I am from in 1943. It was first called a Robin by the early New England Colonists. We don’t see them much in the winter months as they stay among the evergreens feeding on winter berries. I was jumping with joy and smiling from ear to ear this morning when an entire flock of Red Robins were hanging out in my backyard. They were everywhere. It’s a sight we have never experienced living here. The Robins were in the trees, on the lawn and in the bushes. It was beautiful and I was grateful that God brought me joy in that moment. This assured me that Spring is near and that makes me happy.
Song of Songs 2: 10-12 (TPT) “The one I love calls to me: Arise, my dearest. Hurry my darling. Come away with me! I have come as you have asked to draw you to my heart and lead you out. For now is the time, my beautiful one. The season has changed, the bondage of your barren winter has ended, and the season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The season for singing and pruning the vines has arrived. I hear the cooing of doves in our land, filling the air with songs to awaken you and guide you forth.”
Early mornings I am beginning to hear the birds singing. I see male and female birds pairing up as they arrive at my feeders. “The season has come for the hiding to end, Kellyn.” God is calling me to awaken. There is a rebirth of new life bursting forth that happens in the spring. Today, I have seen the first sign of spring!
